Former Eastbourne Borough skipper Daren Pearce will be at Priory Lane tonight alongside a host of other favourites from the past to pay tribute to manager Garry Wilson and assistant Nick Greenwood.

Borough play newly-promoted League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers in a testimonial for the club’s long-serving managerial duo.

Pearce will be introduced to the crowd at half-time along with the likes of Craig Willard, Stuart Tuck. Paul Stevens, Liam Barham, Ollie Rowland, Stuart Playford, Lee Hook, Scott Ramsay, John Wescott, Danny Simmonds and Andrew Ducille who have played their part in Wilson and Greenwood’s successful decade in charge.

Pearce, who joined Borough at the start of the pair’s first full season at the helm, said: “They are undoubtedly the best managers I have ever played for.

“I used to travel 120 miles to the club and back when I first joined but I didn’t mind because Garry and Nick made it fun and had a clear vision of where they wanted the club to go.

“What they have achieved is remarkable but I am not surprised because they are such a good team.

“They have been the biggest influence on my career and I am glad to be given the chance to go back and play a part in their testimonial.”

Borough are expected to name a strong line-up against a Wycombe side including Michael Duberry and Carl Cort as they work towards discovering the team which will begin the season at Wrexham on August 8.

Greenwood said: “The wide areas are pretty much settled but we’ve still got some decisions to make on the spine of the side.

“We’ve got three games to go and it is up to the players to force their way in.”

Borough announced their squad numbers yesterday. Defender Matt Hurley and striker Ross Treleaven were not included but Greenwood says talks are still ongoing with the pair.
