Crawley boss Steve Evans confronted the referee after his side went down 2-1 away to Gateshead.
Evans was convinced Gateshead's equaliser on 74 minutes from former Reds striker Daryl Clare was offside.
Crawley were good value for their lead given to them by Mikey Malcolm in the first half but an understrength side conceded twice in the final 16 minutes.
Evans said: "Daryl Clare will always get you a goal but by the faces of everyone in the ground they were shocked it was allowed to stand. He looked three or four yards offside.
"I have sympathy from the assessor but we don't need sympathy. We have a seven and a half hour drive home, the leaders on Tuesday and only Adam Quinn back.
"Gateshead will never play a weaker Crawley Town team.
"We have to get through the best we can. I can't fault effort, I can't fault determination or the will to win. We tried to keep playing.
"We will regroup and go again on Monday."
