Albion's FA Cup tie against Torquay at Plainmoor is set to go ahead after a 1.30pm pitch inspection.
But kick-off will not be until 3.10pm as a larger than usual crowd builds up.
Temperatures have risen in the south-west and the sun is shining but there was a heavy frost overnight and ref Mike Russell from St Albans took a prolonged look at the playing surface.
Ref Russell donned his football boots for a run on the pitch and met again with managers Paul Buckle and Gus Poyet at 2.15pm to decide whether the third round clash went ahead today.
An area in one penalty area has caused particular concern and there was also a frosty stretch along one touchline.
Local police expect between 800 and 1,000 Albion fans to make the trip.
The delay is due to crowd congestion though the extra time is also being used to further tend the pitch.
Entry to the stands was slower than usual as fans were issued with vouchers in case of an abandonment.
