Albion's top scorer Nicky Forster has joined League One rivals Charlton on loan for the rest of the season.
The Seagulls have replaced the veteran 16-goal striker by borrowing former Eastbourne Borough marksman Ashley Barnes from Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle for the rest of the campaign.
Forster lost his place in the team following a contract dispute with manager Gus Poyet.
Barnes scored five goals in nine games for Borough last season.
