Eastbourne have brought in Adam Shields as they chase an elusive home win.

Eagles, with two draws and a defeat at Arlington this term, will use their former heat-leader as guest for Matej Zagar in the basement battle with Coventry on Saturday.

Zagar is again away at his national championships and Eagles will hope Shields does better than Chris Holder, who scored just 5 (4) as stand-in against Ipswich last Saturday.

Team manager Trevor Geer said: “Adam knows Eastbourne, he loves the place and he is someone our riders fear when they go up against him here.”

Shields scored 10+1 (5) for Lakeside in their recent draw at Arlington.

He is keen to ride on Saturday as Hammers do not have a meeting tomorrow.

Their circuit is staging the British Under-21 Championship, in which Bexhill-based Lewis Bridger defends his title.

Eagles are at full strength as they go to Ipswich tonight. Geer said: “They have relaid the track up there and changed its shape so it will be interesting to see what it is like.”
