Adam Virgo is happy to wait to find out if he will still be with Albion next season.

Virgo is among 14 players, many of them senior professionals, without a contract at the end of the campaign.

They could discover their fates next week if Albion avoid defeat at Southend tomorrow to reach the 50-point safety target.

Virgo, 27, feels more for the first year professionals sweating on what lies ahead for them than players like himself.

“I think it’s worse when you are a lot younger,” said the former Celtic and Coventry defender. “For the likes of Steve Cook and Steve Brinkhurst it’s a lot more daunting, because you worry about your future.

“I’ve seen a lot of players come through the ranks here and not make it. It is never a good time. When you get a little bit older, you are a bit more experienced and kind of know the game a bit more.

“For me personally I take every day as a normal day. I definitely want to stay and play for the club as much as anybody and have a chance to play in the new ground and so on.

“We will just have to wait and see what the manager’s decision is. Nothing has been said yet and I’ll just wait patiently.”
