Assistant manager Paul Raynor praised the resillience of his Crawley players as they ended their home campaign with a 2-0 win over Tamworth at the Broadfield Stadium.

Reds looked weary in a goalless first half, hardly surprising as it was their fourth game in week.

But they took the lead in the 58th minute when Charlie Ademeno was clipped by defender Michael Wylde in the penalty area and Danny Forrest despatched the penalty for his seventh goal of the season.

Ben Smith sealed Crawley's 14th home win of the campaign with a superbly struck curling effort inside the far post seven minutes later.

Nick Jordan kept a clean sheet with a smart save from Des Lyttle's header but Tamworth offered little threat despite their precarious position at the bottom of the table.

Raynor said: "It's been a tortuous week with all the games and especially the travelling but we asked for a response and they came up with it in the second half.

"We're up to seventh now and if we finish there or even eighth it will be an improvement on last season and a fantastic achievement considering our resources."
