Jake Wright is convinced he will not feel out of place at Wembley.
Not after his current boss returned him to his favoured defensive role and asked him to help get Oxford United back into the Football League.
The Albion defender, who signed from Crawley last summer on a two-year deal, has been a regular at centre-back after going on loan to Oxford on New Year’s Eve.
He helped them past Rushden and Diamonds in the Blue Square premier play-off semi-finals, winning 2-0 at home after a 1-1 away draw.
Now the final, against York City at Wembley, looms a week on Sunday.
Wright, who was mainly used on the left of Albion's defence in his six games under Russell Slade, credits former Seagulls defender and current Oxford boss Chris Wilder for getting the best out of him.
He said: “Centre-back is my best position. I can do a job at left-back but I’m really a centre-back.
“I had one game at centre-back for Brighton, at Leyton Orient (in the JP Trophy), and got man-of-the-match."
