Albion's season is almost over but captain Andrew Crofts is heading into extra-time.

The Seagulls’ midfield driving force will gladly make another appearance after tomorrow’s League One curtain closer against Yeovil at Withdean – for his country.

Wales have a friendly in Croatia on May 23 and Crofts is hoping to be part of John Toshack’s plans again.

He returned from the international wilderness in the closing stages of Wales’ 1-0 friendly defeat by Sweden at Swansea in March, reaching in the process one of his targets following his switch to Albion from Gillingham last summer.

Crofts, signed by former manager Russell Slade, scored his first goal in the 2-2 draw at Yeovil in October but has really come into his own since Gus Poyet took charge the following month and made him captain.

“It’s an added responsibility which I have enjoyed,” Crofts said. “I am not a massive ranter and raver but I think I lead by example the way I play on the pitch and hopefully that rubs off.”
