Marc Pullan is on the verge of joining Lewes.

The former Eastbourne Borough and Crawley defender is expected to sign for the Rooks in the next few days.

Lewes boss Steve Ibbitson opened talks with the experienced centre back following his release from Priory Lane at the end of last season.

Ibbitson is confident the 36-year-old will follow Rob Gradwell, Simon Wormull, Lewis Ide and Chris Winterton by linking up with the Rooks for the 2010-11 campaign.

He said: “We are expecting to sign Marc Pullan.

“We feel we need a little bit more experience and Marc will give us that.

“He has played at this standard and higher and we believe that Marc and Simon Wormull will give us that bit extra experience for next season.

“We have always had a young side but we believe the signings we are making will make us a lot stronger.”

Ibbitson is close to finalising his squad for next season. He has spoken to the existing players and is hopeful of keeping the majority of the ones he wants to stay.

Among them, Anthony Barness, Chris Breach, David Wheeler, Lewis Hamilton, Jack Walder and Ross Sutton have all indicated they will re-sign.

Ibbitson has not yet released any players but hopes to be able to announce soon exactly who will be staying.
