Lee Hendrie appears unlikely to return to Albion after his loan stint last season.

He is currently in talks with Aberdeen, managed by former Albion chief Mark McGhee, and could appear against the Seagulls when the clubs clash in a friendly at Withdean on July 31.

Albion’s squad for matches in Portugal against Sunderland tomorrow night and Portimonense on Saturday night includes first year professional Grant Hall, as Lewis Dunk is still injured.

Poyet said: “He is feeling pain in the top of his foot. We don’t know what it is at the moment. An X-ray showed nothing, so now he will probably have a scan.”

First choice goalkeeper Peter Brezovan has also made the trip, despite a fractured wrist ruling him out of the start of the season, but there is no place for Andrew Whing.

The full-back has been involved in Albion’s early friendlies after ending last season on loan to Chesterfield.
