Lewis Bridger is ready to discuss a permanent return to Eastbourne after breaking into his holiday to help them to the Knockout Cup final.

Bridger flew back from Spain to score 13 points in Eagles’ stunning 63-29 semi-final success at home to Wolverhampton on Sunday.

He then added a couple of key heat wins in the return leg as the Sussex track weathered an early storm to win 46-44.

The 20-year-old racer is likely to play some part in the final with Lukas Dryml’s season ended by a shoulder injury.

Bridger has been out on loan this term, helping Coventry win the league after being axed by Peterborough.

He admitted: “People are talking about it but I’ve got to sit down and work out what I’ve got to do.

“Obviously I was having a shocking time of it at the beginning of the season and I’m not quite sure why that was. I obviously wasn’t comfortable with something.

“We will have to sit down with Bob Dugard and work something out. I’m willing to listen and try to be persuaded. I’m not going to say I’m definitely back at Coventry. I’ve had a good year there, they have looked after me.”

Bridger, who is also looking for new track in Poland, seems certain to race in the home leg of the final on October 24.

However, team manager Trevor Geer is keeping his options open for the second leg at Poole.

That could even mean an approach to Bridger’s reserve partner at Coventry Przemyslaw Pawlicki, who scored 16 points at Poole last Monday compared to Bridger’s two.
