ALBION boss Gus Poyet hailed his side's 4-0 destruction of Charlton at The Valley as "nearly perfect".

The Seagulls blew away Charlton's unbeaten home record with goals by Inigo Calderon, Glenn Murray, substitute Kazenga LuaLua and Matt Sparrow to consolidate their position at the top of the table.

Poyet said: "The way we performed against a side like Charlton at The Valley, the way we defended and scored goals, was nearly perfect.

"I cannot ask for more. We just have to enjoy the moment and give credit to the players. I don't think there has been a better performance away from home from us.

"It wasn't one of those kind of games I don't like, a 6-4 or a 4-3. We were spot-on defending and outstanding going forward."
