Albion manager Mark McGhee has reiterated his desire to keep hold of Colin Kazim-Richards after Championship newcomers Barnsley expressed an interest in the unsettled striker.

Ex-Albion striker Andy Ritchie, the Barnsley boss, claimed yesterday that "We are interested in Colin and have made an enquiry to Brighton."

McGhee revealed: "Barnsley may be interested but the only contact we've had is through Colin's agent.

"They have not contacted me or the chairman so until there is official contact it means nothing and there has been absolutely nobody else at all even phoning me about him."

McGhee's former club Wolves have also been linked with Kazim-Richards, who had a transfer request rejected last week.

His demeanour since being left out of the squad for the last two matches suggests he still wants to leave but McGhee views the situation differently.

He said: "As far as I am concerned he is going nowhere.

"If somebody comes up with an offer the Board decides to accept then I would have to accept that but he is still in my plans. How soon he is back playing depends on him."

Meanwhile, Albion's interest in Ipswich striker Sam Parkin has suffered a knock.

An injury to Town team-mate Alan Lee makes it less likely that Parkin will be sold before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

The Seagulls also now face competition from League One rivals Blackpool if Hull change their stance and are prepared to let centre forward Ben Burgess go.
