Gus Poyet has abandoned his hunt for a striker after being priced out of the market.
The Albion chief has called a halt to his search and will rely instead on the current crop of front men.
Poyet revealed to The Argus: “There was no chance of getting the ones we wanted. We were possibly aiming too high but that is because we want to get better. The prices were crazy, even in this division, or the Championship.
“We couldn’t really afford them and we are not going to bring in a body, it’s about quality.
“If you ask me now the value of Glenn (Murray) and Ash (Barnes) then, from what I have been told about other players, I think people would be surprised. I don’t think there is a team going to be able to buy them because the price is going up every day.”
