Inigo Calderon today assured Albion’s travelling army of fans: “We won't take it easy in the FA Cup.”

The League One leaders go to Championship side Watford for an intriguing fourth-round tie on Saturday.

Calderon’s fifth goal of the season helped the Seagulls go six points clear when they beat Colchester on Tuesday and promotion remains their target.

But the Basque right-back insists: “We go to every game with the thought of winning. This is the same.

“The Cup gives you the chance to enjoy yourself and prove you can to play against other teams.

“Playing against Premier League teams is complicated but against Championship sides we have to take the chance to show we can play there.”

Albion are expected to take about 4,000 fans to Vicarage Road and Calderon admits he now appreciates the significance of the Cup.

He added: “It’s special. I realise that now. If we can win, all the better.

“I always say I love English football and when you love English football you know about the FA Cup.

“But maybe you don’t feel the same as you do when you get here.

“We played against Woking, a Conference south team, and you say ‘it’s a normal game’. But no, it was crazy.

“You feel so good, playing this kind of game. It’s really special and I understand that now maybe more.”

Albion will make changes against the seventh-placed Hornets.

Watford must do without loan star Andros Townsend, who played and scored for parent club Spurs against Charlton in the last round
