Crawley assistant manager Paul Raynor is confident three of their key players will be fit to face Torquay in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Leading scorer Matt Tubbs was rested for Tuesday’s game against Cambridge which Reds won 3-0 to return to the top of the Conference.

Central defenders Kyle McFadzean, who was being watched by Hull City, and Pablo Mills came off in the last five minutes complaining of tightness in the calf and Reds finished with ten men.

Raynor said: “Tubbsy was always going to be rested. He has got a bit of a cold and we were always going to leave him out and get him ready for what is a huge cup tie on Saturday.

“We took Kyle and Pablo off because they both felt tightness and we are not going to take any chances. They are both big players for us but that was precautionary and we are pretty sure they will be okay for Saturday.”

Scott Neilson was due to start but suffered a recurrence of a foot problem in the warm-up and was replaced by James Dance, although the midfielder should have recovered in time for the fourth-round clash.

Reds will have fewer options at Plainmoor than in recent games because January signings Dance, John Dempster and Josh Simpson are all cup-tied.

Striker Jamie Cook, who scored his first goal of the season against Cambridge, will almost certainly be on the bench but Raynor was delighted with his contribution.

He added: “He had quite a nasty injury at the start of the season and it took him time to establish himself but we saw what he can do against Cambridge, it was an absolutely fantastic finish.

“But people who have watched us for the last three to four years know he can do that, he has got fantastic ability. All his hard work in the gym and with (physio) Mark Stein has paid off and he is another good option for us on Saturday.”

Torquay expect the tie to be a 5,500 sell-out and Reds' 1,150 support will include five coaches of fans leaving from the Broadfield at 7.30am on Saturday.

McFadzean and Simpson are both in the England C squad for the International Trophy semi-final against Belgium at Kenilworth Road, Luton, on February 9.
