Table-topping Eagles came back down to earth with a bump at the East of England Showground tonight as they were beaten 52-38 by Peterborough.
Promoter and stand-in team manager Mike Bellerby had spoken bullishly about his team’s prospects in the build-up to the meeting and looked to have hit the nail on the head as Eagles amassed an early eight-point advantage.
They slammed in shock 5-1’s in heats one and three and bagged a 4-2 in the fourth contest to take charge but it was downhill all the way from there as they were sent to a second successive away defeat.
