Dean Cox is claiming the late own goal which snatched victory for Albion at Millwall.

The diminutive winger's free-kick with two minutes left was deflected in by Millwall midfielder Marvin Elliott.

Cox, who scored his first senior goal in the Seagulls' last home game against Crewe, said: "I'm definitely claiming that because it was on target.

"It was hard times during the week because of the gaffer (Mark McGhee) leaving but the team went out there, did what was asked of them and got the right result in the end.

"I thought we defended like lions. We cleared two off the line in the second half and then had enough to sneak it.

"It's obviously been hard with Mark and Bob (Booker) leaving but as professionals we have got to get on with it. We showed we are not going to rest on our laurels.

"We were all out there fighting for places and we are trying to get as high in the League as we can."

Cox and the rest of his team-mates mobbed caretaker manager Dean Wilkins when the goal went in.

He said: "Dean knows the youth team players that have come through so well and he is willing to give us all a chance. Hopefully I've repaid him."

Meanwhile, Tom Fraser, 18, who made his debut when he came on as a second-half substitute, said: "It's a hell of a place to come.I could not hear myself think when I went on.

"I was just told to tuck in, let the wide man have it and keep the shape and it worked. Dean Wilkins got it spot on as I know he always will."
