Albion caretaker manager Dean Wilkins wants his players to stop seeing red.

Wilkins takes charge of his first home match against Bournemouth at Withdean tonight without captain Richard Carpenter following his dismissal for a two-footed tackle in Saturday's victory at Millwall.

Dean Cox, Adam El-Abd and Kerry Mayo have also been sent-off during the Seagulls' opening eight matches.

"Maybe that's one of the things that has given me sleepless nights," said Wilkins. "It is something that certainly needs to be addressed.

"We can't continue like that. If we continue at this rate then we have got to put on sessions where we plan every other game to go down to ten men, which would be absurd.

"There has got to be a level of intensity but it needs to be controlled aggression and discipline within the group."

Wilkins, working closely with assistant Dean White, admits it has been a baptism of fire.

He only had Friday to prepare the players for the Millwall match after Mark McGhee's sacking and tonight's South Coast derby launches a hectic spell of six games in the space of 19 days.

Wilkins said: "It's ridiculous, it's driving me mad at the moment. It's been difficult to be honest. There have been so many things on my mind, I haven't had time to relax really.

"It's just because the games are coming thick and fast and it's all new to me. In the past I've just been used to preparing young players' development, rather than preparing for each game, and with each game there are different obstacles. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it but it's just different.

"I discuss everything with Dean, every position on the pitch, every ploy we've got up our sleeve. We've been working well together."
