ON-TRIAL Darren Carter has been granted extra time to impress Gus Poyet.
The Albion boss wants to work out why the vastly experienced Premier League and Championship midfielder still has not found himself a club this season.
Carter, left, worked with the Seagulls last week and will have a few more days to secure a deal.
The former Preston, Millwall and Birmingham midfielder has been back training with the St Andrew's outfit this term but has yet to earn a contract.
Poyet is keen to add physical presence to his midfield and could also do with more experience of the second tier, so the 6ft 2in 27-year-old could fit the bill on both counts.
The Albion boss said: “He will be with us for a few more days. He only did three days with us last week and I wasn’t there for one of them.
“In terms of his fitness and his ability and his experience, I think it’s easy. You can see his track record.
“What I want to know is why he still doesn’t have a team.”
