Albion talisman Glenn Murray says the disappointment of letting the title slip will soon disappear.

The Seagulls go up to the Premier League as runners-up to Newcastle after Murray's 23rd goal of the season from the penalty spot was cancelled out by Jack Grealish's 89th minute equaliser for Aston Villa.

Albion were seven points clear of Newcastle with three games to go but the Toon reeled off three wins on the trot, culminating in today's 3-0 home victory over Barnsley.

Murray said: "It's obviously a disappointed dressing room but we'll give it 24 or 48 hours and I am sure we will reflect on what we actually have achieved this year.

"Ultimately to get into the Premier League was our main aim and we've done that. Obviously in the last three games we had a chance to win it.

"That wasn't to be and we need to congratulate Newcastle, because they stuck at it."

Murray absolved keeper David Stockdale of any blame for Grealish's last-gasp strike which snatched the title away.

"Nobody is blaming David," he said. "It's one of those things, He's rescued us time and again this year."

Murray's tally means he has equalled the club record scoring total for a season in the second tier, achieved by Newcastle signing Bill Curry in 1959-60.
