Chris Hughton praised his side’s recovery – and said they deserved their point against Southampton.

The Seagulls came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw thanks to Glenn Murray’s header.

It was their first point in the Premier League after going behind.

Albion boss Hughton said: “Particularly in the second half I thought the tempo of our game was very good.

“When you go 1-0 down so early against a side who have maybe not had the season they would have liked but have so much quality in the team, credit to our lads for the way they responded.

“We thoroughly deserved to get back in the game.”

Albion remain unbeaten at home since the opening day of the season.

Hughton added: “We are on the end of a wonderful way performance (at West Ham) but we always felt home form would be a defining factor in how many points you get in a season.

“I’m incredibly delighted to get the three points away from a home because that is another milestone.

“But we need to be strong at home.”
