Albion boss Chris Hughton says Connor Goldson has given him a decision to make for the Boxing Day visit to Chelsea.

Goldson impressed in the centre of defence on his Premier League debut against Watford at the Amex yesterday.

He deputised for the suspended Shane Duffy, who has been a tower of strength alongside Lewis Dunk.

Hughton told The Argus: "Any player that comes in and does well, that's what you want. You want to have tough decisions to make. That means players are competitive and are pushing.

"We are also going into a very tough schedule of games in a short period of time and we will need the whole squad."

Albion completed consecutive clean sheets at home against Watford and their third in four games at the Amex after shipping five goals against Liverpool.

"Credit to the players," Hughton said. "All we can do is determine the tactics but the players have got to go out and do it.

"Burnley are not in the position they are in for no reason and Watford, with the offensive options they've got. The players have worked very hard to achieve that. We'll need every bit of that going into the second half of the season."
