Solly March is prepared to do the defensive graft for Albion.
But the winger hopes to get forward – and into the box – on a more regular basis if he faces West Ham today.
March got himself off his flank and very central to force the penalty from which the Seagulls went 1-0 up at Southampton on Wednesday.
He believes that will be a decent point if it is backed up with all three against the Hammers.
March told The Argus: “I’ve got to get in the box and, if you do that, you have got a chance of scoring.
“I chopped it and he took my foot and we got the penalty.
“Then we were disappointed to concede like we did with a bit with of a scrappy goal.
“But hopefully we make it a good point with a win (today).”
Albion boss Chris Hughton appears to face a two-from-three decision out wide with Anthony Knockaert left out for the last two league games.
March was the only genuine winger who started against Chelsea, albeit in a more central role, as Hughton went for a wing-back system.
Then March and Izquierdo each got the full 90 minutes at St Mary’s.
March had a lot of defending to do as home left-back Ryan Bertrand pushed on.
That is an area of his game which seems to have developed this term.
But he conceded the free-kick from which Southampton drew level as he clipped substitute Soufiane Boufal.
Replays suggested there was contact, albeit not a lot.
He said: “It was maybe a bit soft. He was fresh, he had just come in and he was sharp. I tried to nick the ball and I don’t know, it was a tight one.
“I played quite deep and sometimes you have got to do that.
“He (Bertrand) didn’t get many crosses in. I blocked a few and it was okay.”
