Former Crawley head coach Dermot Drummy has died. He was 56.

His son Joe confirmed the news via Twitter.

Drummy was in charge of Reds last season and made several signings, including the return of Dean Cox to Sussex football.

He previously worked in the development departments at Arsenal and Chelsea, where his young players included current Albion loanee Izzy Brown.

Joe tweeted: “Ok so this is the toughest day. Unfortunately my Dad passed away this morning, I bloody loved that guy and couldn’t have been more proud of his achievements in all aspects of life. Best Dad I could have asked for. To me a f****** legend and awesome role model."

A spokesman for Crawley said: “Everyone at the club is devastated by the news. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

The club will make a further statement tomorrow.
