Mushtaq Ahmed will rejoin Sussex next week.

But Pakistan team-mate Rana Naved is unlikely to face England A at Lord's in the county's last match before the start of their Championship defence.

Instead, Rana will have a game in Pakistan before linking up with the county at the end of next week.

The pair have been back at home since Pakistan's early exit from the World Cup and attended the memorial service for coach Bob Woolmer in Lahore on Sunday.

Robinson said: "Mushtaq still has to give his report on the World Cup to the Pakistan Cricket Board but as soon as he's done that he will be coming back, hopefully by April 10.

"Because of the Woolmer affair Mushy hasn't done the work he would have liked and he's anxious to get here quickly.

"It makes sense for Rana to have a game in Pakistan because that also allows us to give someone else an opportunity without affecting our preparations for the first Championship match against Kent."

Mushtaq will have to wait to discover if Pakistan want him to succeed Woolmer as national coach after delaying the appointment until next month, although they have confirmed that the new coach will not be foreign.

Murray Goodwin will also return early next week and will definitely play at Lord's in the four-day game which starts on April 13.
