Danny Briggs is expected to miss the start of Sussex Sharks’ T20 campaign.
Head coach Jason Gillespie has revealed his spinner could miss a month with an ankle injury.
Sharks begin their Vitality Blast campaign with games against Briggs’ old club Hampshire.
They go the Ageas Bowl on Friday, July 19, and host their South Coast rivals five nights later.
Gillespie said: “He did it in training, he hurt himself in the field and it looks like probably a month.
“He is being assessed and getting treatment and we’ll go from there.”
Mir Hamza, troubled by a back problem, could face Australia A at Arundel from July 7 and looks set to play against Lancashire at Old Trafford in the final game of his Sussex contract.
