Sussex Sharks want to put smiles back on faces at Hove.

Luke Wright’s men tackle Hampshire at the 1st Central County Ground tonight (7pm) in the first of seven home fixtures in the T20 Vitality Blast.

The county have struggled in the Championship of late but will have crowd-pleasers Rashid Khan and Tymal Mills back in action.

Head coach Jason Gillespie said: “We have got wonderful support and we want to go out there and entertain them.

“Go out there with a smile on our faces, play some really positive cricket and entertain our fans who are with us through thick and thin.

“I know this summer a few of our fans have probably been disappointed with our four-day form but they are sticking with us.

“That’s what I would say to them – stick with this young group of players because they are developing and working hard.”

Chris Jordan misses out tonight as he recovers from a knee tendon strain but Reece Topley could make his debut.

Gillespie said: “Chris isn’t in the squad for this game.

“There is a chance he will be in the squad for Friday night.

“He is just slowly building up from that knee injury sustained at Lancashire.

“Medical staff don’t believe it to be serious but it is just niggling away there.

“We certainly don’t want to risk Chris’s health by rushing him back too early.

“There is a lot of games to go in T20 and Championship formats.”
