Jofra Archer is back with Sussex after his England omission.

The fast bowler will play for Sharks against Kent in tomorrow’s sold-out Vitality Blast contest at Hove.

He is also being lined up for some red-ball action with Sussex 2nd XI as they face Gloucestershire at Blackstone in a three-day Championship fixture which starts on Tuesday.

Archer missed out on the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston due to a combination of pitch conditions and his ongoing recovery from a side strain.

It is thought England are considering him for the second Test at Lord’s.

Archer got a full four overs in for his county in the T20 tie against Surrey last Friday.

He revealed afterwards that he had needed painkillers to get him through the recent World Cup.

But he said he felt ready to play a Test match.

England, whose bowlers have impressed so far on day one, thought otherwise and opted to put his Test debut on hold.

Unbeaten Sussex have six points from their first four T20 fixtures, which included a rain-off at Hampshire.
