Sussex have re-jigged their faltering batting order for tomorrow's (Friday) Championship game against Kent at Canterbury.

Opener Carl Hopkinson has dropped down to No6 with Mike Yardy forming a new opening partnership with Chris Nash.

Skipper Chris Adams will bat at three, allowing Matt Prior to move up a place to No5 where he scored 133 not out against Durham last week.

Sussex have only claimed maximum batting points once in six games this season and Adams said: "We think these changes will improve things."

He said: "Batting has been difficult in general this season. Pitches have often been tough because of the weather and the red balls are swinging a lot more.

"But we recognise that our batting isn't firing and we're looking to make things better. I'm used to batting at No3 and facing the hard ball in the one-day side and we think dropping down to six will benefit Hoppo.

"We asked him to fulfill an opener's role and although he has played two or three promising innings there, he isn't the answer at the moment."

What do you think about these changes? Will they spark an improvement or are they just papering over the cracks?
