Ed Joyce and Chris Nash both scored big hundreds as Sussex beat the Fly Emirates XI by 171 runs in the Pro ARCH Trophy in Sharjah today.
New recruit Joyce, who joined Sussex from Middlesex during the winter, opened and made 126 off 119 balls with seven fours and three sixes.
Nash, coming in at No4, scored his 120 off just 74 balls with five sixes and seven boundaries as Sussex racked up 361-6 from their 50 overs.
Will Beer (3-24), Nash (2-11) and Michael Thornely (2-4) again proved that spin will play a big part in the event as the amateurs were dismissed for 171 in reply after acting captain James Kirtley had dismissed both Emirates' openers with the new ball.
