Mike Yardy was in dreamland today after he was called up by England for the first time.

The Sussex batsman is one of two debutants, along with Leicestershire fast bowler Stuart Broad, in a 16-man squad for the Twenty20 international against Pakistan at Bristol on Monday which is followed by a five-match one-day series.

It was already shaping up to be a memorable week for the 25-year-old who is captaining Sussex for the first time in the Twenty20 double-header against Essex which concludes at Chelmsford tomorrow He will also have a key role in Saturday's C&G Trophy final against Lancashire - Sussex's first appearance in a Lord's final for 13 years.

Yardy got the news from Sussex coach Mark Robinson after a net session at Hove this afternoon.

He said: "It's absolutely unbelievable, especially with the way my week was already shaping up. It's all a bit of a dream really."
