Coach Mark Robinson says there are no quick fixes for Sussex after they made a dismal start to the new season.

The county slumped to defeat by an innings and 55 runs at Liverpool after their last seven second-innings wickets subsided in just 63 minutes on the final day.

At one stage Sussex lost six wickets in 35 balls and although Monty Panesar and Amjad Khan hung around for a further eight overs they were only delaying the inevitable.

Sussex have eight days in which to regroup before they head to Durham and Robinson is sure to at least consider changes.

But his options are limited. Luke Wright and Lewis Hatchett are unlikely to be available until the return game against Lancashire on April 26 at the earliest because of injury and there is no sign of skipper Mike Yardy, who is being treated for depression, returning anytime soon.

In addition, Matt Prior is being rested by the England management until next month.

Robinson said: “We picked from 15 for this game so we are a bit light. We will still be without Prior and Wright at Durham and it’s still too early to say about Yardy.

“He is coming into the ground this week at some point so we will see how he is. But we have to make sure he has enough space to recover so there is a good chance we will be picking from the same 15.”
