Sussex all-rounder Luke Wright could be facing another two weeks on the sidelines as his wait for treatment drags on.
The England international has not played since aggravating a knee injury during the warm-up before the second day of last week’s victory over Nottinghamshire.
The 26-year-old requires an injection to help cure a problem which first flared up at the World Cup in March but must wait until Monday to see a specialist.
That means he is almost certain to miss the Championship match against Yorkshire and could rule him out of the opening Twenty20 match against Essex on June 2.
Coach Mark Robinson said: “There are very few people in the country who can do this kind of treatment as it is very specialised.
“If Luke is pain free on Sunday then he can play against Kent and then go for his assessment the following day.
“But if he still has the symptoms and requires an injection then he will not be available against Yorkshire as it takes between seven and ten days before you can play again.”
