Sussex coach Mark Robinson has admitted his side have an uphill struggle on the final day against Hampshire today.
The hosts resume on 82-3 needing a further 151 for victory in the Championship tussle.
Matt Prior and Luke Wells are the not out batsmen.
Robinson said: “It’s a tense game isn’t it? It has been all match and it’s definitely a lot of runs to get on a last day. On a wicket that’s already had 80 overs before now, it’s a big ask but we believe we’ve got the batsmen to do it.
“We’ve got an England Ashes winner at the crease with one of the best young prospects in the country, so you’ve got to have hope and confidence.
“We lost the toss, are batting last and we’ve got to remember that on a wicket that is turning more than anybody expected.
“We missed a couple of catches and a couple of stumpings went down so we let them get 15-20 more than they possible should but that can happen.”
Sussex will be hoping to achieve their third successful run-chase at Hove in the Championship this year.
