The first day of Sussex's County Championship clash with Lancashire has been totally washed out.

Heavy overnight rain followed by further downpours in the morning prompted the umpires to abandon the game for the day at 1pm.

It continues a miserable start to the season at Hove with only two days possible against Warwickshire two weeks ago and just 34 overs being bowled in the three day game against West Indies.

The forecast for tomorrow is not promising either, although the outlook for Friday and Saturday is better.
