These are the men who will be battling it out to be No.1 at Whitehawk this season.

Brazilian Lucas Covolan and his Spanish counterpart Adri Munoz have been confirmed as Pablo Asensio’s two goalkeepers for the new campaign.

Adri, as he was known at previous club Llagostera, was last night close to signing a contract but has verbally agreed to play for Hawks.

Covolan, who came through the ranks at Vasco da Gama and played for Brazil under-20s, was revealed as a new Hawks signing by The Argus last week. He arrived at the Enclosed Ground on Monday and will initially be first choice.

Adri has been in Brighton since early July and has already played in pre-season as a trialist. He is a former team-mate of Hawks defender Ramon Marimon at Manlleu.

Boss Asensio said: “Lucas and Adri are both full-time and will be training and playing all week. That doesn’t mean they are on what people would describe as full-time wages.

“They are on less than what you would pay some part-time English players.

“They have come here because they are betting on their futures. They are using Whitehawk as a shop window. We understand that.”

Asensio believes Covolan “got lost” among the huge numbers of footballers in Brazil.

He said: “It happens to a lot of Brazilian players but they have still got quality. And they are a good price.

“Adri is the younger of the two but he is very hard-working and agile.”

Hawks return to pre-season action at home to Horsham on Saturday (3pm).

They face Albion’s under-21s next Wednesday, July 27, at the Enclosed Ground (7.45pm).
