Lewes goalkeeper Rikki Banks appears to be on his way to Eastbourne Borough.

The Rooks’ player-of-the-season has been in talks about a switch to Priory Lane.

Borough boss Garry Wilson has confirmed he plans to bring in a goalkeeper during the summer as he improves a squad which only stayed up with victory against Oxford United on the final day of the Blue Square premier season.

Lewes were prepared for the likely departure of Banks and have two potential replacements in mind as they look to build a stronger squad for next season following their own flirt with relegation from Blue Square south.

Rooks boss Steve Ibbitson said: “We knew they had approached him. I tried to persuade him to stay but he is desperate to play Conference premier football.

“He rang me (on Wednesday) to tell me they have given him to the weekend to make up his mind and he is going to go."
