Georgie Wood is on board again for Eastbourne – after a scintillating end to the season.
The IT First Eagles have cited the Kent-based racer’s form in the closing weeks of the cup-winning 2016 campaign as a key reason behind bringing him back.
New dad Wood, whose partner Lauren recently gave birth to daughter Sienna-Rose, is back at Arlington for a third season.
Team manager Connor Dugard believes Wood could succeed Adam Ellis as top man in the order.
Dugard said: “It’s quite easy to build a team around George because he could be our No.1.
“I could see him adding a point-and-a-half to his average.
“He had a really good end to the season, especially his home form in the last month or two.
“He has been on fire and outscored Adam a couple of times.”
Wood is the first team member confirmed for next season.
Ellis has moved on, securing a ride in the new-look Premiership with Swindon and also signing for Ostrow in Poland.
