New midfielder Steve Evans has revealed how his house mate helped persuade him to join Crawley.

The former Wales under-21 international made his debut in Saturday's 2-0 win at Aldershot after signing from Woking.

Evans shares a house with Reds striker Lloyd Blackman and is friends with joint caretaker boss Dave Woozley and it was hearing them rave about the Broadfield Stadium club which convinced him to join.

He said: "I wasn't going to be offered a new deal with Woking for next year so it was time to move on.

"I was told I could speak to other clubs and Crawley were the first I spoke to. I know Wooze from our time at Crystal Palace a long time ago and he sold it to me. I live with Lloyd and he sold it to me as well so I jumped at the chance of joining."

Evans is certain Crawley will stay up after they moved back out of the Conference relegation zone with victory at the Rec.

He said: "Without a doubt we can get out of it. Aldershot was our game in hand and now we have won it, it puts the pressure back on the other teams.

"We have some big games coming up and if we can perform like this every week we should be okay."

Evans was one of three debutants on Saturday, along with goalscorer Ronnie Bull and Magnus Okuonghae, who signed from Grays and St Albans respectively last week.

Joint caretaker boss Ben Judge says there are likely to be more new faces for Saturday's home game against Southport.

He said: "We are pretty confident we will bring in two forwards for next Saturday."
