Andy Smith is enjoying a dream season in his final fling of college basketball in Massachusetts.

Now fans in Sussex are being given the chance to see the swingman, from Littlehampton, in action for his unbeaten Bentley College team.

Bentley's bid for a record 23rd successive win is being shown, live or on demand, on the internet at ncaasports.com/dii.

Smith, who has been coming off the bench in his senior year, nailed three of four three-point attempts in scoring 11 points at St Michael's in midweek. He will be expected to offer valuable support in today's fixture at home to Stonehill College, which is due to start at 5.05pm BST.

Indications are, however, that he will turn his back on professional basketball when he leaves Bentley this summer.

Smith said: "I am very happy to be a part of this kind of success and I am happy with my contribution to the team. But in terms of my future I am currently planning on accepting a position for a company in Boston."

Meanwhile, Richard Midgley's introduction to professional basketball looks like it might have to wait until next season.

The former University of California starting guard, from Burgess Hill, is back on the west coast continuing to re-hab after tendinitis. He impressed in a try out in Spain recently but was unable to agree terms.
