Whitehawk will have to stop the sharpest shooters in the country if they are to become only the second Sussex club in history to reach the semi-finals of the FA Vase.

Ian Chapman's side have been drawn at home to Cornish hotshots Truro City in the quarter-finals on Saturday, March 3.

The Toolstation Western League division one leaders have scored an amazing 105 goals in 20 league games this season, giving them a plus-97 goal difference.

That means they are the top scoring senior club in the country, well clear of North West Counties division one pair FC United and Salford City, who have 93 and 91 respectively. By comparison, Hawks have netted 28 goals in the same number of league games.

Truro, known as the White Tigers, are six points clear at the top of their league with four games in hand over their closest rivals. They reached the last eight of the Vase for the first time in their history with a 3-0 win away to Slimbridge AFC on Saturday.

A 2-1 win at home to Quorn on Saturday took Hawks further than they have been in the competition before and Chapman is just pleased to be playing at East Brighton Park.

He said: "I'm chuffed to bits to be at home. That was the most important thing, to get a home tie which means they have got a nice, long trek up to us.

"They are meant to be the favourites for the competition but if you are going to do well I suppose you have got to play them some time.

"We will get someone to watch them so that we know a bit more about them and hopefully on the day we will turn up and give them a game."

When told about Truro's league record of 19 wins and a draw from 20 games, Chapman added: "They've drawn one have they!

"They are obviously a very good side. They are favourites for it but we will give them a game."

Stewart Yetton, who made three first team appearances for Plymouth, is Truro's top scorer with 30 league goals this season.

Others with League experience include midfielder Joe Broad, who was playing for Walsall as recently as last season, and Kevin Wills, who made 75 appearances for Plymouth and Torquay.

Littlehampton are the only Sussex side to reach the semi-finals of the Vase, going out to Gresley Rovers in 1991.

The last sides from the county to reach the quarter-finals were Burgess Hill and Lewes in 2002.

Full quarter-final draw: Causeway United or Curzon Ashton v Leamington or Retford United, Whitehawk v Truro, AFC Totton v Wimborne Town, Billingham Synthonia v VCD Athletic or Bideford.

Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson hopes to celebrate his new two-year deal by booking a place in the semi-finals of the Sussex Senior Cup tonight.

Wilson, who signed a contract extention on Friday, takes his side to Bognor confident of improving on Borough's 1-1 draw at Nyewood Lane in Conference south back in September.

Borough were missing a host of key players that day but are only without the suspended Adam Wilde this time while Albion duo Chris Breach and Scott Chamberlain are ineligible for the Rocks.

Wilson said: "We are certainly stronger now than we were then. We were really stretched by injuries at that time but now we are back to full strength apart from Adam."

Striker Lee Farrell is set to play his last game for Horsham tonight, leaving manager John Maggs searching for a striker.

The frontman ends a month's loan from Lewes at Carshalton after scoring eight goals in four games for Hornets.

Maggs said: "Lewes want him back so that will leave a hole up front. I am tracking a striker and hopefully we will get him in by the weekend."

Winger Gary Charman returns after illness.

Burgess Hill midfielder Shaun Grice will continue up front alongside top scorer Ashley Jarvis at Godalming Town tonight.
