Eastbourne Eagles were denied by a few moments of Chris Harris magic as they drew 45-45 at home to Ipswich.
The rising GP star passed both Davey Watt and Nicki Pedersen in heat 15 to force the 3-3 which gave Witches a point.
It was a thrilling end to a highly entertaining meeting.
Despite that last-race disappointment, there were plenty of positives for the injury-ravaged Eagles, who overcame an eight-point deficit and a series of mechanical problems to put themselves in a winning position.
The main bonus was an 8+1 (5) haul by David Norris as he made an early return from injury.
Norris's score would have been even more impressive had he not blown an engine when leading heat seven on the last lap.
Eagles boss Trevor Geer was also delighted to see reserve Stefan Andersson return to form.
The Swede piled up a season-high 11+3 from a full programme of seven rides.
Harris, guesting from Coventry, finished with 10+1 from his five rides.
