Oddschecker football writer Ryan Elliott takes a look at a daunting trip to Tottenham

The Result

This season is becoming quite the rollercoaster. Albion’s one-way doom-ride to he Championship was, perhaps temporarily, put on hold at Molineux, as Chris Hughton’s side secured themselves a priceless point against Wolves under the baking Black Country sun.

Serious questions still remain over Albion’s ability to score goals – the Seagulls’ barren run has now stretched to six matches – but the monumental defensive display against Wolves does show there is plenty of fight still remaining.

Next up is a trip to Spurs – a fixture many view as a free hit –where the odds, as you would expect, are heavily stacked in the hosts’ favour.

This one does feel like a forgone conclusion. Spurs have won five of their last six at home – while the less said about Albion’s away form, the better – but despite this enormous gulf in class, you can still find some big value in this fixture.

Spurs to win to nil is priced at an incredibly generous 11/10; which is bonkers considering Albion simply cannot buy a goal these days, and while Hughton’s circumspect approach worked to perfection against Wolves, it is only a matter of time before this excellent Spurs outfit find a way through.

I expect Albion to lose but with that monumental game against Newcastle on Saturday fast approaching, I’d be satisfied with the players simply giving a good account of themselves.

The Banker

My banker is for Albion to receive the first booking of the match, priced at 4/6.

Incredibly, Wolves dominated the ball so much last Saturday they didn’t commit one single foul – you won’t see that very often.

You can expect a very similar pattern of play tonight, with Spurs enjoying the lion’s share of possession.

Without the ball, it’s hard to commit any offences, which is why an Albion player is the most likely candidate to be the first on the referee’s naughty step.

The Longshot

It’s been said time and time again: Albion defenders struggle against nippy, tricky, pacey forwards.

We’ve seen it on numerous occasions against Chelsea – with Eden Hazard running riot – and we saw it against Bournemouth, where Mathew Ryan was left brutally exposed.

If Spurs are going to score, their most likely source of joy is through Son Heung-Min, who now has a claim to being one of the very best players in the world.

The South Korean has four goals from his last five matches, and is a healthy 7/2 to open the scoring on Tuesday.
