Skipper Jayson Molumby missed a penalty but Republic of Ireland Under-21s beat Bahrain Under-22s 1-0 to book a spot in the semi-finals of the Toulon tournament for the first time.
Connor Ronan fired home a 33rd-minute free-kick to put Ireland ahead but Albion midfielder Molumby had a penalty saved three minutes later as Stephen Kenny's side failed to doubled their advantage.
Seagulls striker Aaron Connolly, who scored against China in the opening group game, led the line for the Republic at the Stade Jules-Ladoumegue as they advanced to the last four from Group C.
