CHRIS EUBANK Jr hopes to fight for another world title in September.

The IBO world super-middleweight champion has not fought since an emphatic unanimous points decision over fellow Brit James DeGale in February.

The Brighton fighter will fly out to Los Angeles this week to tie down details of his next opponent with powerful American promoter Al Haymon.

Although nothing is written in stone, Eubank Jr is confident there will be news soon.

Eubank Jr, 29, said: “There will be an announcement in the next couple of weeks. I am hoping to get out in September and I believe it will be in the UK but it might not be as I have this meeting and that may change.

“It will definitely be for another world title. That’s what I am here for – big fights and big belts.”

Eubank said he wanted to fight again as soon as possible after beating DeGale, which was seen a win or bust clash for both fighters with DeGale retiring soon after.

A quick ring return has not materialised and Eubank Jr said: “I am not going to lie, I thought I would be (fighting sooner) but it is new promoter and way of managing things and a fighter can only fight, it’s not my job to make fights.”

Eubank Jr has been linked with a showdown against John Ryder, the WBA interim super-middleweight champion.

World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was in Brighton last night at a private function at The Grand.
