Albion could bring in Bristol City defender Adam Webster.

But that would not necessarily mean Lewis Dunk leaving the club.

The Seagulls are known to be interested in Webster and Bristol City today confirmed they had received an offer.

Unconfirmed reports suggest Albion have bid £20 million for the 24-year-old from West Sussex.

City boss Lee Johnson said today: “I’m not as confident of keeping him as I was when you guys asked me in America, given the level of interest. There have been bids.”

Webster comes from West Wittering and was educated at Chichester High School.

The Argus has been told by a well-placed source that, if Webster were to join Albion, it would have “no direct implications” for Dunk, who has been speculatively linked with a move to Leicester.

Dunk is known to be focused on a new season at Albion, where he is likely to be confirmed as captain.

His colleague Matt Clarke is being linked with a loan move to Derby, who need a left-sided centre-back after seeing Fikayo Tomori return to Chelsea.
