Shane DUFFY has urged Albion fans to look forward to the new season – whatever their concerns.

The Seagulls aim to improve on the hugely disappointing second half of last term as they prepare to open the 2019-20 Premier League campaign at Watford.

It is a voyage into the unknown in some respects with a management team and three major signings who are new to the division.

Duffy can see why some fans might be wondering what to expect – and have lingering doubts because of last Spring.

But he believes they should put those to one side and relish a new challenge.

Centre-back Duffy told The Argus: “I can understand the sense of unknown but every season is different no matter what you achieve during the campaign before.

“Even if you’ve had an unbelievable season before, you never know what a new one will bring because it’s always a fresh start.

“That’s what it is for us under the new manager, we have a few new players as well so it’s exciting.

“The fans have to be patient as well because it’s a new manager with a new set of ideas and it might not happen straight away.

“As long as we work hard and add a bit more going forward, we’ll get the right balance to take us on to better things.”

The arrival of defender Adam Webster and Neal Maupay plus a win over Valencia, all in the last week, have lifted supporters and there could be more business ahead of the transfer deadline at 5pm tomorrow.

Duffy added: “The end of last season wasn’t great but that’s gone now and we’re all looking forward to the new one.”
