Lewes manager Steven King will not be seeking a replacement for departed striker Leroy Griffiths.

Jean-Michel Sigere's imminent return to fitness has come at the perfect time for the Rooks.

Griffiths left Lewes earlier this week to sign a short-term deal with League One side Gillingham. His exit leaves King with just three fit strikers to choose from - that is until the return of Sigere.

The former France under-21 international is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a knee operation and could be playing again in three weeks' time.

King said: "He is back in training with us and I will be looking to get him in somewhere training full-time for the next couple of weeks so that he will be sharp when he returns.

"I have been really impressed with his attitude. All he wants to do is work hard and he can't wait to get back in the side.

"Siggy is a proven goalscorer. Last season he scored something like 11 goals in 18 appearances and that was when he was just half fit. Potentially he could be massive to us."

King has also praised the attitude of defender Leon Legge, who scored his fifth goal of the season in Monday's 3-2 Setanta Shield win at Havant which sets up a third round derby at Eastbourne Borough on Tuesday December 4.

Legge has found himself on the bench for most of the season with Steve Robinson and Ian Simpemba in control of the two centre-back roles but Simpemba's one-match suspension for the FA Trophy tie at Basingstoke tomorrow week will open the door for Legge.

King said: "Leon will go straight into the side at Basingstoke and it will be down to him to keep his shirt.

"His attitude this season has been excellent. He hasn't moaned, he has just got his head down and got on with things and now he will get his chance."

Lewis Hamilton could be available after a hamstring injury for tomorrow's trip to Weston-super-Mare but Steve Elliott is still missing with a dead leg.
